A Snapchat ads audit that starts with what the Pixel can see.
Snapchat is the paid social channel most accounts set up once and rarely check again. We review tracking, bidding, catalog ads, Sponsored Snaps and the mobile page a swipe lands on, then walk you through the findings on a call.
A Snapchat ads audit reviews an ad account’s Snap Pixel and Conversions API, campaign and bid settings, attribution, creative, catalog ads and landing pages to find wasted spend and missed conversions. Ours is free. We review the account with view-only access, compare Snapchat’s reported purchases with your Shopify orders, and walk you through the findings and the first fixes on a call.
What we check in a Snapchat ads audit
Snapchat traffic arrives on a phone, mid-swipe, and leaves just as fast. An audit has to check whether the platform can see what happens after the swipe, whether the account is set up the way Snap’s delivery now works, and whether the page is built for that visitor.
| Area | What we check | What it costs when it is wrong |
|---|---|---|
| Snap Pixel | Base code on every page, purchase and add-to-cart events, purchase values | Purchases Snapchat cannot credit to an ad |
| Conversions API | Server events, deduplication against the Pixel, integration version, event quality | Under-reported purchases and weaker optimization |
| Attribution | Swipe and view windows used for reporting and for optimization | Reports and delivery judged on different clocks |
| Bidding | Auto-bid, target cost, max bid, retired minimum ROAS setups | Bid strategies Snap no longer supports, or caps that block delivery |
| Structure | Objectives, number of ad squads, budget per squad, early edits | Ad squads that never collect enough data to optimize |
| Creative | Vertical, native, sound-on, a hook in the first seconds, fatigue | Desktop creative resized for a phone and ignored |
| Catalog ads | Feed health, product sets, out-of-stock items, retargeting pixel | Retargeting ads for products you cannot ship |
| Sponsored Snaps | Whether Chat inbox delivery is on, catalog ads in Sponsored Snaps | Missing a placement Snap reports as reaching new people |
| Landing pages | Mobile load time, the first screen, express checkout | Swipes that leave before the page finishes loading |
| Profit | Platform ROAS against margin, blended results, new customers | Credit for sales other channels drove |
Updated October 2026 for Snap’s 2025 bidding changes, Sponsored Snaps auction delivery and the September 2026 Commerce Power Pack.
Can Snapchat see your purchases?
Measurement is where most Snapchat accounts lose money without knowing it. Snap reports that advertisers running both the Snap Pixel and the Conversions API saw 22 percent more attributed purchases, 25 percent more purchase value and an 18 percent lower cost per purchase than with the Pixel alone, based on its 2023 data (Snapchat for Business). Snap recommends running the two together.
We check the Pixel fires on every page and on purchase with the order value, that server events from the Conversions API are deduplicated against it, and that the integration itself is current. Snap’s developer documentation matches the server event’s dedup ID to the Pixel’s event ID, accepts events up to 37 days old, and scheduled version 2 of the Conversions API for deprecation in early 2025 in favor of version 3 (Snap for Developers). Older store integrations set up years ago are worth checking against that.
Expect some gap even when everything is set up well. Snap’s own quarterly filing says platform policy changes have limited its targeting, measurement and optimization, particularly in North America (Snap Q2 2026 10-Q). We size that gap by reconciling Snapchat’s purchases with Shopify orders for the same days, so you know how much of the difference is tracking you can fix.
Are reporting and delivery using the same attribution window?
Snap’s Marketing API documentation lists a 28-day swipe and 1-day view window as the reporting default, with swipe windows of 1, 7 or 28 days and view windows from none up to 7 days (Snap for Developers). Ad squads optimize on a 28-day swipe and 1-day view window by default, with 7-day swipe as the alternative (Snap for Developers).
Snap’s own ecommerce guide recommends something tighter for online sales: a 7-day click window with no view-through, a budget of at least $30 a day, and no edits for the first four days (Snapchat for Business). Accounts often mix these up, reporting on one window and optimizing on another, which makes results look better or worse than they are. We document the windows each campaign uses and judge performance on one consistent basis.
A long view window is generous to any platform. A shopper who saw a Snap, then searched your brand on Google a week later, can be counted by both. That is why the audit ends with Shopify and blended numbers, and why we split new customers from returning ones before calling a campaign a winner.
Is the bidding set up for how Snap works in 2026?
Snap ad squads support three bid strategies: auto-bid, which aims for the most efficient cost per action while spending the budget; a max bid, which keeps bids at or below a set amount; and target cost, which aims for the most volume while keeping the average cost per action under a target. Snap retired the minimum ROAS strategy on February 10, 2025 (Snap for Developers), so any account still built around it needs rebuilding.
Snap has kept adding automation. In May 2025 it launched Smart Campaign Solutions, with Smart Bidding setting a target cost per action and adjusting bids and budgets (Snap). In September 2026 it put Value Optimization, which bids for return on purchase value, into beta, and opened Third-Party Web Optimization, which optimizes toward purchase outcomes measured in Google Analytics or Northbeam (Snapchat for Business). We check which of these your account could use, and whether the conversion data underneath is good enough to trust them.
Structure matters as much as the bid. A budget split across many small ad squads gives none of them enough purchases to learn from. We count active squads against spend and recommend how to consolidate.
Are catalog ads and Sponsored Snaps pulling their weight?
Dynamic Product Ads build ads from your product catalog, fed on a schedule as a CSV or XML file and grouped into product sets; retargeting needs a Pixel attached to the ad squad (Snap for Developers). Snap says catalog campaigns optimized for Pixel purchases improved 7-day cost per acquisition by 22 percent in a controlled study, and in September 2026 it made catalog ads available in Sponsored Snaps for all advertisers (Snapchat for Business). We check feed errors, out-of-stock items still being advertised, product sets that mix best-sellers with slow movers, and whether retargeting excludes recent buyers.
Sponsored Snaps are full-screen vertical Snaps delivered to the Chat inbox, without a push notification, and removed if left unopened (Snap). Since May 2025 any advertiser optimizing for Pixel purchases, add-to-carts, page views or sign-ups can buy them in the auction (Snap). Snap says including them drives up to 22 percent more conversions and nearly 20 percent lower costs per acquisition (Snap), and that about a third of the people Sponsored Snaps reached in the second quarter of 2026 were incremental to its other surfaces (Snap Q2 2026 remarks). Those are Snap’s figures, so we look at what they did in your account before recommending more.
Is the creative native, and is it reaching who you think?
Snapchat reported 493 million daily active users worldwide in the second quarter of 2026, with 92 million in North America, down 7 percent from a year earlier, and said its US audience keeps broadening, led by people aged 35 and older (Snap Q2 2026 remarks). Snap also says it reaches more than 75 percent of 13 to 34 year olds in over 20 countries, the US among them (Snap). If your account is built on assumptions about a teenage audience, the audit checks them against who is actually converting.
On creative, we look for vertical video made for the platform, sound on, the product and the offer inside the first seconds, and enough distinct concepts that the account is not running one ad until it wears out. Feed creative resized for a phone shows up fast in the numbers, as low swipe rates and short view times.
The part most Snapchat audits skip: the page after the swipe
Published Snapchat audit tools and checklists stop at the account. The swipe lands a visitor on a phone with a few seconds of patience, so we check mobile load time, whether the first screen repeats the offer from the Snap, whether express wallets are available at checkout, and how many taps it takes to buy. A slow, desktop-first product page is money spent twice.
This is the half of the audit we fix ourselves. At the same spend and the same swipes, a 30 percent lift in landing page conversion rate cuts cost per acquisition by about 23 percent. Model it with the conversion rate calculator, or see our landing pages for paid traffic.

Signs your Snapchat ad account needs an audit
- Ads get swipes and Shopify shows few or no orders from them.
- Campaigns are approved but barely deliver, or stopped delivering.
- Snapchat reports purchases you cannot find in Shopify.
- The account still uses a bid strategy Snap retired in 2025.
- Catalog ads keep showing products that are out of stock.
- The same few Snaps have run for months.
- Nobody has checked whether the Conversions API is connected and current.
- Mobile product pages take more than a few seconds to load.

Snapchat ads audit FAQs
01What does a Snapchat ads audit include? +
The Snap Pixel and Conversions API, attribution windows, bid strategies, campaign structure, creative, catalog ads, Sponsored Snaps, landing pages and profitability. Ours reconciles Snapchat’s purchases with your Shopify orders and ends with a walkthrough call.
02Why are my Snapchat ads not delivering? +
The usual causes are ads still in review or rejected, a max bid or target cost set below what the audience needs, an audience that is too small, or a budget spread across too many ad squads. Frequent edits in the first days also slow delivery. The audit checks each of these.
03My Snapchat ads get swipes but no conversions. Is the Pixel broken? +
Sometimes. Check that the Pixel fires a purchase event with a value, that the Conversions API is connected and deduplicated, and which attribution window you are reporting on. If tracking is sound, the problem is usually the mobile landing page, the offer or the audience.
04Are Snapchat ads worth it for ecommerce? +
For brands with a mobile-friendly store selling to younger buyers, often yes as a secondary channel next to Meta and TikTok. The free audit looks at your tracking, catalog and margins and tells you whether Snapchat deserves more budget.
05What is a Sponsored Snap? +
A full-screen vertical Snap delivered to the Chat inbox, with no push notification, removed if it is left unopened. Since May 2025, advertisers optimizing for Pixel purchases, add-to-carts, page views or sign-ups can buy them in the auction.
06What access do you need for a Snapchat ads audit? +
A role on your Snapchat business account that can view reporting, access to the product catalog, and your Shopify order totals for the same period. We never need permission to edit campaigns.
07Is the Snapchat ads audit free? +
Yes. There is no fee and no obligation. We walk you through the findings on a call, and you can act on them with your own team, your agency or us.
