The challenge
STRNG Seeds is a fast-growing DTC brand in the cannabis space. It came to us with two linked problems: average order values were low and the conversion rate was low, which together capped how much each visitor was worth.
Paid traffic was part of the growth plan, so the work also had to bring advertising costs down rather than simply sending more paid visitors to the same pages.
What we did
- Added multi-packs to product pages. Multi-pack options on the product page made the larger purchase the natural one.
- Introduced free gifts over a set cart size. A free gift above a cart threshold rewarded larger orders without a site-wide discount.
- Built custom landing pages for paid traffic. Dedicated landing pages for paid traffic, built to bring advertising costs down.
- Implemented post-purchase upsells. Upsells after checkout, added to maximize profitability on orders already won.
- Added filters to collection pages. Filter options on the collection pages, added to improve site usability.
How the program ran
Different brands, different profit levers, same process every time. For STRNG Seeds, as for every client, the work started with research: session recordings, heat maps, analytics, reviews and the questions customers ask. Ideas were ranked by expected business impact, then designed, written and built in-house. Each change was checked by QA before and after launch, and results were read against revenue, order value and margin rather than clicks.
Winners shipped in coordination with the brand’s own team. Losing tests were reported in the same detail as winners, because a program learns as much from what does not work. Andrew Cowan, Parah Group’s founder and a former brand-side CMO, runs every account personally, so the person reading the results is the person deciding what comes next.
The result
Revenue per visitor rose 90 percent in six months. Every number in this case study was published with the client’s permission.
What other brands can take from this
- Measure revenue per visitor, not conversion rate alone; it captures both order value and conversion.
- Paid traffic deserves its own pages.
- Free gifts over a threshold can lift order value without training shoppers to wait for discounts.
